Tech Notes & FAQ
Under development for over 4 years, the Innspector 07 is new, ground penetrating technology, and, as such, there are going to be a lot of questions about the system, especially during these early stages of the product launch.
Here are a few of the most common:
Is the system perfect? We have achieved a 99% successful locate rate by using a combination of the INNSPECTOR, and common sense (including knowledge of the distribution system.)
Will the Innspector Actually Locate PVC Mains? Yes, but it's not exclusively for PVC. The system can locate any type of pipe material below ground - PVC, A/C, HDPE, steel, ductile, etc. It does not distinguish between the materials, and there is no magic light that comes on for a certain type of pipe. However, combined with some knowledge of the distribution system (which side of the road, for instance) the Innspector is 99+% effective, and will reduce excavation time and expense for locating any type of pipe.
What do I have to "hook up" before it will work? Unlike other locators, there is nothing to hook up, and there's no transmitter to set above the pipe, or direct connect. Except for a protective carrying case, what you see in the picture is all there is. It's all self contained within the clam shell housing. Just turn it on, point it at the ground and mark the spot. You can even keep your shoes on.
How much does it cost? And, how long until you can deliver? As of Jan. 2010, the system retails for $3,995.00. However, we are having an "on-line only" special we call the
... "I Can't Come There To Demo The System 'Cause I'm Too Darn Lazy!" sale. Pre-pay with your credit card or company check for only $3,800.00. Delivery is 5-20 days. Shipping is FREE!
There are no refunds, PLEASE WATCH THE TRAINING VIDEO BEFORE YOU BUY!
One Year Manufacturer's Warranty.
NOTICE: The "I Can't Come There To Demo The System 'Cause I'm Too Darn Lazy!" sale price is good until December 31, 2010.
How deep can it locate? The system has located pipe that was buried at 23 ft. 10 ft' is very common, and dependent on the sensitivity setting.
Can it determine the depth of the target? Knowing the estimated depth of an object would certainly aid in identifying whether the target is a main (I.E. 6 ft.) or a tree root (I,E, 1/2 ft.), but existing technology does not allow for an automatic measurement. Our engineers are hard at work in attempting to implement this feature, however, but we can not say with any certainty that it will be available. What we can promise, however, is that existing customers will have an opportunity to implement any new features via a factory upgrade at our cost.
Who uses it? (references) We are not providing specific company names for obvious reasons. But industries include over 150 customers - Natural gas distribution companies, professional locating companies, water & wastewater utilities, museums, cemeteries (don't ask), Rural Water Associations
.
Remember, if you expect the system to do everything, it will disappoint you. It is, after all, an "all-materials" locator and can not distinguish between pipe materials. However, combined with good judgment and common sense, the Innspector maintains a 99% successful locate rate, and will reduce your excavation expenses.
But don't wait! If you can not see it in person, take a moment to at least ask for a DVD.
Sincerely,
Bud Reed BudR @ b3otek.com
